If the children have been kidnapped the woman needs to call the police. It is against the law to kidnap and they could go to prison. The woman also needs to get in touch with her attorney and let them know about the kidnapping. She can take the men to court. The father of the child could have made the child write the email to the mother. She does need to let the police know about what happened. She should have called the day that they were taken.
