Is it possible to be devoutly religious- but not be adhere to any organised faith?

Sects or organized faiths feed the pack mentality side of humanity. It is exhilarating and encouraging to be among those that share ones views (religious or otherwise) but those views are worthless if one can not maintain them away from the packs' scrutiny. I think beliefs are vast and difficult to categorize. Not every Muslim believes in holy war just as not every Christian believes that their sect knows best. The basis of faith may tally but beliefs are very individual and valid. I always say the question is not what is right or wrong but rather the best way forward that edifies all.
