How will Japan treat a butch gaijin?

I have a friend who presents as androgynous and is often mistaken for a boy but isn't quite 'butch'. She has short hair and wears gender-neutral kinds of clothing. Shs's Russian and obsessed with Japan and has gone there a few times now...She said she generally was treated well and said she was flirted with a lot by creepy men as well as women.
